Getting Back to My Horsemanship Journey...

I guess I am not super woman... two part time jobs, wife, and mom of a toddler, and two horses to play with has not went well this month!

So, I let my second part time retail job go... and kept my horse related part time job that is not always guarenteed. Then to reward my "following the dream" decision I am heading to the Performance Summit next week!

Anyone else struggle with the whole get a "normal" job thing???

Something has to be broken.

Today was the first real play session I've had with Tug for 5 days or so. I had a plan, but I was willing to change it. There were some good and bad moments, but they didn't go from bad to good or good to bad. Instead, they were mixed together so I don't know what that means.

Parelli 101 was a success!!!

We had the best time this past weekend. I held two "Parelli 101" group lessons with 4 students each.  Then, we had a big Play Day afterwards.

The students were so attentive and ready to learn so they could be the best for their horses.  We had some challenging horses but with patience and persistance we were able to see good results.

Holding another session on Monday and can't wait to meet those new people and their horses.

Onwards and Upwards...Freestyle!

the last couple of sessions that i have played with jack i have been concentrating on freestyle riding the follow the rail pattern but trying with jack at the canter. the first couple of times he put in some small playful bucks then we got quarter of a circuit in canter then a full circle of the hay rack in canter! im really pleased with this as it was a nice calm canter, he head wasnt up in the air and he was listening to what i was asking.

Grazing Muzzles

I've never really liked the idea of using a grazing muzzle but as Bea is somewhat physically challenged it is a necessary evil.  I never realised, until now, just what at asset limiting grazing without the need for small paddocks can be.

Our Personal Lesson Day

Christine Madoni's time with us was awesome! She helped me to see the holes in my relationship. I now am working on being a better leader for my skeptical LBI mare. We have passed our level 2 online and have filmed our level 2 freestyle which will be sent it soon. I am learning to truly make a game out of our play and not to take her feedback personally, just take it for what it is: FEEDBACK. Did I ask the question wrong or did I ask the wrong question? Was my communication clear or fuzzy? Did I warm up strong enough so the ride could be soft? Am I exhibiting the attitude of justice?

I PASSED LEVEL 2 ONLINE!!!

I HAVE JUST RECEIVED AN EMAIL TELLING ME THAT I PASSED AT LEVEL 2 ONLINE! WOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!

I had a look at my score card and i even had a couple of ticks in the level 3 column for relationship. ahh, this feels wonderful! :)

Cody's progress

Now 4yrs old and playing in level 2 cody has come on leaps and bounds, Being a LBE he's such fun , a lightning learner and very funny!! for the last week weve spent the days playing in his treeless saddle, and hes now happily playing as if it was always there!, on occasions he grabs the stirrups and gives them a good tug as if to say hey howd you get there!!!, after a great session of changing gait on the 22ft line and squeezing over jumps (and BOY can he jump!!!)  he jumps my electric fencing for fun!! he's 13h

Opportunity for learning

Today it was the first day of my new "job". I will be working/learning under a dressage educated person and as payment she'll help me with my horse.

She claims not to do Parelli, but she always says "We don't make our horses do something, we make them want to do it!"
Isn't that a wonderful way of thinking.

I know I'll learn a lot in this job and I'm so looking forward to starting!

Parelli Experience at the World Equestrian Games

Experience the world leader in natural horsemanship at our booth in the Equine Village (between the Visitors Center and the International Museum of the Horse) and daily demonstrations at the Clinicians Corral. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see Parelli’s teachings in play as Paralympian and longtime Parelli mastery student Lauren Barwick competes in the Games’ Para Dressage discipline.
