Level 1 Assesment

Hi.

On Saturday, I did my level 1 Assesment. It has been such a long time (about a year and a half) since I got my dad to record me doing parelli. I had my mum Asses it for me. From what my mum had to do in her days, I have passed with excellence! I am just so happy with my little man, espesally (sorry, I am aa REALLY  bad speller) when he put all four hooves on 'his' pedastool!

A little about me #2

This is the next part of my first post...

Asher (R.I.P): White 12.3 and 3/1hh, 21 years old, Welsh pony, LBI, VERY food orentated. Asher was my first pony. He taught me heaps.

I started using Parelli with him when you would have to drop his food and run. Otherwise there may be a bit of you in his food!

My mum taught both of us Parelli when he came up near my place for school holidays. Soon, I was able to feed him myself and sit with him while he ate.

We where doing level 2-3 online, level 2 freestyle, level 3-4 liberty.

Going Slow with a pregnant LBI

I just wanted to share with you what i've noticed about the power of asking a LBI to go slow! I have my11 year old Welsh x Quarter horse called Mel that is in foal, she's due to foal in 2 weeks (so basically could foal any day now).

Mels due to Foal soon!!

Hi guys,

I have a fabulous welsh x quarterhorse called Mel that i'm studying level 3/4 with. She is 11 years old and she could foal any time from now on as she is over 320 days now.

If any of you have had foals I'd be keen to hear from you what worked well and what perhaps didn't work so well and you have learnt from your experiences with foals.

So as pat says second hand gold is as good as new so if i could learn from any of your experiences that would be great.

Thanks

Louise

Moving Circles and the Passenger Game

The more I do of the passenger game the more I become fond of it.  Nancy being a RBI/RBE can bounce very quickly between into either extreme.  I was taught some time ago when she is RBE to do moving circles in a large field, she can trot or faster, but not walk.  This has an enourmous calming effect on her and I still use it when she is RBE.  The passenger game has the same effect on her when I am riding.  Anyone who has read all my blogs will know that Nancy gets extremely emotional as she gets faster and in the canter has become so emotional she looses all re

Going to Florida in March

Just going to concentrate on getting my good, better and better, best.  I hope to blog about my journey here. Lots to do to prepare before we go.Also have to tape some savvy's before hand. Namara's Progress

Namara & Parelli 007.jpg

I've almost finished the Hill Therapy and the most interesting part is not her physical development and fitness, but her mental - I was going to say development, but its me that has developed in my understanding of her needs.

Conntinuing Namara's Canter

19th July

Well, wow this is interesting.  We’re still in the middle of the Hill Therapy and, true to Namara’s rt/ex – lt/int she has reverted to her shuffle trot with complete disinterest in the work and listening only for the 5 minute alarm, so I changed tatics and asked for canter.

Namara's Canter

Namara

Namara and I have done a lot in the 14 years we've been together but it has always me bugged that her canter which is perfect if I hold her together, but isn't what I want for her and for me, and this is a blog about our journey together while trying to improve it.

Namara is a right brained extrovert, Arab Chestnut Mare.

I am short, old and also right brained extrovert

The Return from Reno

The Road to Reno was quite the journey. While picking up our partner, Kristin, and their horse Julian, in Stagecoach (outside Reno) the trailer tire blew. Tried calling our roadside assistance insurance and no one seemed to want to help, especially because it was a trailer tire and they are not covered.  Even AAA doesn't cover trailer tires unless you pay extra.  Anyway, Kristin finally reached an Auto/tire repair person who brought out a new tire and replaced it. Wonderful!

Arena

Rocket Rita

My arena has been started. I have waited a long time for this. The dozer was out yesterday and it looks wonderful. Although, when he started, OMG, I thought what a mess. It started shaping up after a couple of hours and now it is beautiful. He said he would bring his box blade over and finish it up. You know, after all the rain we had, it is really wet under the earth he moved. I was amazed. It will be hard to wait til it is dryer some. Then it is supost to rain this afternoon. Oh well, I have waited all these years, few more days or a couple of weeks won't hurt.

Good Morning

Last night I played with Rita, I think a LBE with some RBI tendencys. I lost the relationship with her somewhere. So, Tuesday we just did a lot of nothing, She loves to run from me, (now I know it is a relationship thing) so I followed her around the area she was in, and she would run from me. I had the halter in my hand, (she does not necessarly like it). When she ask me a question I walked away in an ark and she started to follow me around. When she did partner with me I did not touch her with the halter, then she left fast.

GOOD MORNING WORLD

Jyll and I

Today is a wonderful day. Hope everyone is doing well.

My first blog

Hi ! My name is Laurie Lawrence and live in Reading, PA. I am 48 - well alomost 49 ! I realized my lifelong dream of having a horse when my husband bought a foal for my 18th wedding anniversary. I had been caring for his "mama" throughout the pregnancy and was right with him when he was born. His mother rejected him so he was hand fed as a baby. Not knowing anything about babies, I loved him like I did my dogs (not the best idea). Then my friend asked me to buy another of her horses who was pregnant. Now I am blessed to have 3 Rocky Mountain horses.

Knowing when to let go

Dear Parelli Friends,

I have a sad story to tell.....

My 3 year old QH (left brain extrovert) has been with me since he was born.

He is the most fantastic horse I ever got to meet!

His name is Mylo ( Mylove).

When he was 9 month old, him still beeing a stallion, the former barn owner placed him, against my wishes on the same paddock with 2 mares.

He started to experience his young love life with the two of them and shortly after that he became lame.

Trailer loading problems

I have a 25 yearold arabian that has troublw ith trailer loading. When we first got her 10 years ago she would go right in. We started to not take her anywhere until last year when i started showing her and that was the first  time she has been in a trailer for years. Since then till now she is so bad to get in the trailer i have tried everything and nothing works. The closest she will get to it is right before the ramp and no closer. She'll move sideways and turn her head and throw it, she'll back up and anything else to not go in the trailer.
