New to Parelli and starting today

Hi

Jester started his Parelli training with James Roberts this morning.  Im very excited about starting my Parelli training with him in 3 weeks time.

Im 34 yrs old and I have had Jester who is a 16"2 TB 15yrs gelding for just over 2 years. He is affectionate, perfect to catch, load and most of the time to handle and ride. His flat work is amazing at home in the school where he is a delight to ride and tries his heart out.

Situations we struggle with are:
Horse Shows – although he loads perfect he is not the best traveller and shows are scary no matter how small.  I keep telling him that half pass is not a requirement for any prelim test and the warm up for a XC round does not require him to be covered head to toe in sweat.. we haven't been out for months as its just to stressful
Standing still - difficult to pamper him as he wont settle when tied in the yard and we cant hack anywhere we may be required to stand still or open a gate.
Showjumping – very confidant xc but showjumps will eat you.
Confidence - neither of us have this so not a great help in anything we do.

Initial aims are to improve our confidence and in turn begin to trust each other. Then achieve some settled pampering sessions and safe enjoyable hacks. Then possibly embark on a few dressage competitions, and as a dream for the future possibly be able to do a 1 day event, got to have a goal…

Why have I turned to Pareli?, lots of research and reasons but below are some comments that probably cemented it:
“He is 16”2, probably wont jump it because its to small, pop up a 3 foot fence and get on with it”
Great advice so we are both worried, but a 3 foot jump instead of a 10inch cross pole is the answer, sounds like suicide to me.

“Give me that horse I will get it round a course of jumps”

Images of yelling and whipping etc, not a chance not with my sensitive boy. There has to be a better way and that’s why I have decided on Parelli.

I will keep you posted on how we get on.
