a walk to remember - Lily's Log #17
Saturday, I decided to take Lily out without Kiowa for some one-on-one play in the open BLM land across the street. Mom brought the new mini along so he could explore and they could bond. Lily was a little excited when we first left, especially when our neighbor showed up ground driving her gorgeous mule, Lucky! Lily and Lucky were very interested in eachother, so it was good practice for both my neighbor and I to manage both equines behavior effectively. Lily did great. Once we got out where there was some room, I sent her out to the end of the 22ft line and she took off running! I sent her up and down a small enbankment to keep her mind engaged and she yeilded nicely back to me when I asked. It's refreshing to see her really learning and retaining these teachings. I sent her back out and she let out a few good bucks then came back. She seemed so content to just be with me after getting to stretch her legs, that I decided to change game plan. I took up the position of a ground passenger lesson and just went with her where ever she wanted and let her explore. She seemed so happy and I felt so incredibly connected with her. I am so glad I decided to go with her. It was like a walking meditation for a couple of hours... nothing mattered except being present and in tune with Lily. I've never had that experience with her, and I can't wait to do it again!
