Second Day of Parelli

Well, today I went up to the stables and Tilly got half way up the field towards me and watched me carefully before making up her mind that yes, okay, she would approach me.  So she came over and had a good sniff at the halter before lowering her head.  I still get in a bit of a muddle tying it but she is ever so forgiving and has so much patience with me!!

We start with the friendly game and she stays relaxed and content as she is rubbed everywhere and the string is thrown over her back and around her legs.  Excellent, onto Game 2.

Porcupine game with me on her right side was ecstatically successful.  The lightest touch and she moved away from it.  I gave her a rub and she licked and chewed.  Wow, how easy was this going to be.

One phrase - don't get too cocky!!

Onto the other side, well she put her head down, she turned it all the way to her belly on the other side but did her feet move?  Nope.  Then, she thought, oh, you want me to move?  no problem, so she moved.  She went forwards and she went backwards and each time she looked at me I swear she sniggered.

I put my other hand on her shoulder to help encourage her and finally, I got a step sideways.  I could have jumped up and down as this point in joy.  We tried again and she moved to the side.  Then, I went back to one hand and she lowered her head?  THEN, we got the step.

We trotted around and halted and went backwards where all I had to do was wiggle my finger and she want.

Then, when we finished I gave her carrots and went back to the stable.  I just got past her field when I heard the hooves and she came thundering after me to see what game we could play next.  I can't wait until tomorrow!!

This journey is going to be VERY interesting, I think.  Is she laghing with or at me?  Time will tell.
