Thresholds 12/3/10
Thursday 11/03/10
A different pony turned up to day, first up today was the first day he was left alone in the field, Bugsey and Dai had headed out on the bridleway first, followed 15 minutes later by Jules and myself. I slowly moved Jules away from him, to see how he would react, expecting him to run around the field, may be even try to break through the fence to get to us out on the track, but he remained quiet, just a couple of whinnies, from where we where couldn’t tell if he’d become introverted or not. Came back after 45 mins, then went to catch him up, but he wasn’t having any of it, almost like a huff, well if your going to go off with Jules, stuff you, am I being anthropomorphic!! After 5—10 minutes of playing the catching game, he came to me and put his head in the halter. He was much more LBE today, moving around me, I played whoa and go, checking out lifting the rein to stop. We got to the gate quickly, he was confident, and enjoying eating the grass, so I decided to open the gate, nose, neck, maybe the feet sums up what happened, I didn’t make him go forward, just invited him to come out, the front feet made it out the gate, so I left it at that, a neighbour came over for a chat, he ducked back in behind the gate, peeping over at her. We finished the session with some more grass eating, and finally back to the gate to close it, once closed a big release of tension. We played a little on the way back to the stable, moving up to a trot, and whoa, a little sideways, turned into a squeeze, turned in to a sideways, and finally stopped and rewarded him with a treat. A good day, with a happy pony.
